Japan TeaCup Gyokko 50ml black
This extraordinary teacup was made exclusively for TeeGschwendner by Japanese master potter Umehara Hirotaka. The irregular decoration on the outside is reminiscent of pine bark and therefore bears the name ‘Matsukawa’. The embossed stripes on the surface provide an interesting feel and emphasise the uniqueness of the cup's craftsmanship.
The black cup was produced using reduction firing, which gave the original red clay (shudei) a characteristic black colour due to its high iron content. There is a white swirl on the bottom of the inside, through which the colour of the tea gently shimmers through.
This cup combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a unique design and invites you to enjoy a very special cup of tea. For the best experience, we recommend preparing the tea in a traditional Japanese kyusu, for example in our ‘Kyusu Tononame Gyokko’ side handle teapots (no. 13151, no. 13152), which are also made by Umehara Hirotaka.
The red cup can be ordered under item number 13154.
Note: Illustrations 2-4 are exemplary atmospheric images. The decoration is not included in the purchase price.
