Beautiful spring plucking from the "tea wizard" Andrew Gardner

The Siddha Devi Tea Estate, from which this marvellous Nepal First Flush originates, is located in a remote area of the Ilam district in the eastern hills of Nepal. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayan mountain range, the tea bushes grow here at an altitude of 6800 to 7400 feet (approx. 2072-2255 metres) above sea level.

Siddha Devi Tea Estate is located in a remote area of Ilam district in the eastern hills of Nepal. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayan mountain range at an altitude of 6800 to 7400 feet above sea level. The tea in this area was planted about 20 to 25 years ago, but due to the remote location and inaccessible roads, the tea was abandoned and grew into a forest.
In September 2019, Holiska Koirala and her brother Nripesh Koirala decided to get the project off the ground, focusing primarily on the production of high-quality speciality teas, but also on empowering women, especially single mothers in this region. The staff of the Siddha Devi Tea Estate consists of 99% women.

What makes this tea so special?

The tea is handmade and hand-sorted. The high picking standard of 2 leaves one bud is very time-consuming and only certain bushes (clonal) provide the leaves. These grow at higher altitudes, which results in a lower yield but better flavour. The tea plants are all camellia sinensis var. sinensis (China clones and seeds).

Tea-Taster Preparation recommendation

After boiling, leave the water to cool for a few minutes, then pour into a tea cup and add 2.5g of tea per 200ml. Leave to infuse for 5 minutes.
