Exclusive tea from New Zealand

A little gem from the other side of the world. On New Zealand’s North Island, near the Waikato River, magnificent tea bushes thrive, modelled on the finest traditions of South-East Asia. Founded as recently as 1997, Zealong has quickly earned its place amongst the world’s most outstanding tea gardens. Due to its remote location in the Southern Hemisphere, the new harvest takes place at a time that is unusual for tea drinkers: the very best young shoots are also picked here in spring – only here, spring is in October!

The Partnership

‘Zealong Tea Estate’ is the name of this little gem on the other side of the world, which has gifted us three exquisite treasures. When the experts from Zealong were looking for a partner in Germany, they cancelled all their other appointments after visiting TeeGschwendner as their first stop. Convinced by our shared values, corporate principles, product quality and love of tea, this wonderful partnership was formed in mutual harmony.
For those who think of New Zealand only in terms of kiwi birds and hobbit holes, the new additions to the TeeGschwendner range offer a delightful alternative!

Treasures from the other side of the world

In the mid-1990s, Vincent Chen, the founder of Zealong Tea Estate, recognised the potential of this island of natural beauty in the South Pacific and brought the first tea seedlings from Taiwan to New Zealand. From 130 seedlings that made it through the strict import controls, over 40 hectares of tea have now been planted.
Zealong quickly established itself among the finest tea gardens on earth. TeeGschwendner is delighted to be able to offer these treasures from the other side of the world exclusively to German tea lovers.
