Wie immer sehr lecker.
Aber ob die Papier/Plastik Verpackung wirklich umweltschonender ist wie die reine Papierverpackung - keine Ahnung?

From a fixed idea to a successful regional product

The Bio-Innovation Park Rheinland combines great ideas from young students with the practical knowledge of local businesses. This is how a student with a love of mint, an organic farm with a love of challenges and a tea merchant with a love of the region came together.

Meckenheim, in the heart of the Rhineland, offers ideal conditions for growing fruit and vegetables. Thousands of apple trees can be found around our company headquarters, which has also earned Meckenheim the nickname "The Apple City". There is even a stylised apple in the town's logo.
What began as an idea in 2016 quickly made big waves. In her final thesis, Annika Höller from the University of Bonn is studying mint varieties and looking for a regionally strong variety. It should also taste good, and that's where we come in.
The University of Bonn is busy selecting and preparing resistant varieties for the Rhineland and our Tea Tasters give an assessment of the taste and suitability for the German tea market.
After a few months, the decision was made: it should be apple mint! Through the network of the Bio Innovation Park, a suitable grower is quickly found: the Luhmer organic farm in the immediate vicinity of the TeaGschwendner headquarters.
Actually, the Luhmers "don't have much to do with herbs". Nevertheless, it was quickly clear to Bernhard Luhmer that he wanted to support the project. The farm has been cultivating organic produce for a long time. "But this is the first time that we are growing the product with support and the company that distributes it is already on board," says Luhmer.
But there is another, family-related reason. Luhmer has two children, Sebastian and Katharina Luhmer, both of whom have also lost their professional hearts to agriculture. "I probably wouldn't have started on my own. But we are always looking for new perspectives for our farm. The cooperation with TeaGschwendner and the university offers such a perspective."
